January 26th Jim Moginie EP release

January 2017

Dear People,

I am about to release an EP of songs that had a binding lyrical narrative, on the theme of Australia’s indigenous people and the European settlers. It's called 'Under The Motherland's Flag.'
I felt it was appropriate to release these tunes on Australia Day 2017 and mark the fact that as one side celebrates and the other mourns, that is not cause for any celebration at all. Change the date.
You can order the EP and get a free listen to one of the tracks here.

The Break

April 2016

Hello Earthling, We are The Break. We are friendly. We have made two albums. We play symphonic surf music with a great drummer. We played at Groundswell in January this year and last weekend at Gumball Hunter Valley NSW.

Here is a video we did acoustically last year.

Australian Chamber Orchestra. The Reef (Revisited)

February 2016

I'll be playing some guitar and uke in the Australian (Sydney) and US shows (LA, NYC and Richmond Virginia) in the next couple of weeks.

After huge critical acclaim in 2012 and 2013 in Australia The Reef returns, and this time Richard Tognetti shares this genre-defying mix of music, film and the natural world with the USA.

A crew of surfers, musicians and filmmakers spent two weeks at the Ningaloo Reef, where the desert meets the sea. Their resulting film captures the ocean, the world's best surfers, the arid desert landscape and the starry sky, as an incredible array of music swirls around you. It is an illuminating and thrilling celebration of surfing, the ocean, landscape, film and music melded together.

Watch the trailer here and watch a clip from the Reef here.
